Single Girls Gotta Eat

28, living in Brooklyn and eating my way through the single life

Blog Background

Dear Single Girls/Girls in a Relationship/Girls in a Relationship who wish they were Single,

The reason you are here is because I created a blog and I asked you to join. It’s about single girls and what they eat. Some of you may be able to relate, or some of you might think this totally lame. Whatever you want to think, this is my life. And this may also be the reason I am still single….

When coming up with blog ideas, I knew I wanted to write about dating. Being single for almost 7 years now makes for quite an easy topic. But my co-worker/friend Liana mentioned it should be about what single girls eat too, I thought to myself “hey, thats a great idea!” (I also thought to myself, “why does freaking Liana always have better ideas than me?!”). So I am merging the 2- dating and eating.

So being a single girl I am lucky if I make a meal. Heck, I am lucky if I have the motivation to make anything thats not wrapped in plastic when I get home from work! And I think I speak for all of us that when we do, we flaunt it. We will say to our friends “Ohh, I made chili this weekend! I used corn, and beans, and this package of chili spices and mixed it all up in a big pot while I was watching DWTS!” And our friends will say, “Ohhh, chili! I love chili. It smells so good!” I mean, come on. That is nothing to flaunt here girls. Chili is the easiest thing in the world to make! But we flaunt it, not b/c of WHAT we made, but b/c we actually MADE something that uses ingredients and, ultimately, motivation.

We have all done this- a working single girl comes home to her apartment at 9pm. Opens her fridge to find half a cantaloupe. Not totally satisfied, she reaches for half a bag of popcorn, some Peanut Butter on Saltines and that last fudge pop covered in freezer burn. VIOLA! Single Girl dinner. Its not that single girls don’t know how to eat, it just that we have far more important things to worry about (ie: Being social, finding outfits to be social in, working out so that we look good while being social, meeting boys while being social, not meeting boys while being social hence the reason you are still single, etc…) With that being said our fridge and pantries are a smorgasbord of random food and goodies that only WE love! And no one is there to watch us eat them. (Except in my case there is my roomates Chihuahua, but dogs can’t talk. So she just stares.)

So, with that being said this blog is going to be dedicated to the single girls eating habits and dating habits (which most of the time go hand in hand). I hope its good. And I hope you like it :)

XOXO,

SG
